Two years ago, I literally drove my family and friends crazy singing Silk Sonic’s, Leave the Door Open.

Now I know what your thinking:

1. Temi has fabulous taste in music.

2. Wait, that was two years ago already? (I knoooowwww….Time is crazy like that).

3. How is Temi going to tie this into something that could potentially add value to me?

Well, I’ve got you covered, but first…

Now that we got that out of the way, over the past few weeks, I’ve been chatting with a few people about protecting the businesses they’ve created and the assets they’ve acquired. Here’s what I’ve learned.

People are leaving their doors open ALL OVER the place. It’s just recklessness out here in these streets.

Folks are doing so much with very little protection, and frankly I’m concerned.

The most significant issue for me is that for many of these individuals, money isn’t the issue. It’s perspective. It’s mindset. It’s priority, and it’s not profitable.

Here’s my two cents: I think it stems from hustling mentality that focuses only on acquiring and never protecting. It is a short term view point with long term implications. As a result, people work, work, and work, and end up having nothing to show for it.

Life starts life-ing and you have no shield or umbrella to protect you or your business.

The most classic example is the real estate investor who spends all this time acquiring property and puts it all in one LLC. Then one day, Silly Sally slips down the stairs and decides to sue you. Guess what, Silly Sally is smarter than she looks because she is going to access the income connected to all of the other properties when she sues you in court.

And you will have to pay her 10x more than you would have paid an attorney to get the LLC to begin with.

Another attorney friend of mine puts it this way: You can pay her now, or pay her later…And it’s going to be a WHOLE LOT MORE later.

So what am I saying?

I’m saying stop listening to Bruno’s silky vocals.

CLOSE. ALL. THOSE. DOORS.

Get your LLCs. Register your trademarks. Create your trusts. And protect what you’ve spent your life time building.
