Why Lawyers Get a Bad Rap

Nobody Wants Me at Their Party đź«

I don’t take it personally, but I’ve come to the conclusion that no one wants me at their party.

Don’t believe me? Well, consider this…

Have you ever heard or thought, “I don’t want to get any lawyers involved?” or “I can do this on my own”?

Now think about when you tend to think that. It usually comes up when everything seems to be going well. All the business owners are on the same page, and the idea feels so fresh. Essentially, when times are good…the party.

That proves my point.

People don’t want lawyers when everything SEEMS to be well (the party times of their business journeys), and to be honest, I understand why.

As a profession, we have been known to kinda make things more complicated, and maybe even through wrenches in things. We type up contracts filled with legalease and have trouble breaking things down. And then I know folks are really not crazy about the costs.

So entrepreneurial optimists, like many of you, avoid us.

But here’s the thing… I’m tired of being left out, and it’s not because I’m sad (I’m an introvert…I secretly love canceled plans).

I’m tired of being left out of the conversations earlier because I can’t warn you about the road blacks that you might be facing. I can’t tell you about the legal mistakes that hurt your branding. I can’t help you find out the inside scoop on trademarks.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Join me on Tuesday, August 1 at 7pm to for a special Ask Temi Live! Q+A. Learn more about my firm and how we help without being party poopers.

Specifically, I’m hoping that we can:

  1. Connect as a Community. I want to know who the people are who watch my videos on YouTube and have subscribed to this list.

  2. Answer Live Questions. I plan on answering questions that you have about starting your business, trademarks, LLCs, DBAs, etc…Let’s get some clarity

  3. Move Closer to our Goals. I want to hear what you are working on so that we can cheer each other on.

And don’t forget to invite your business besties! Have them register too!
